Ngày 13/1, Viện hàn lâm Khoa học và Nghệ thuật Điện ảnh Mỹ (AMPAS) đã công bố danh sách đề cử giải thưởng Oscar lần thứ 92.
Theo New York Times, “Joker” của nhà làm phim Todd Phillips dẫn đầu với 11 đề cử, trong đó bao gồm những hạng mục quan trọng nhất như Phim hay nhất, Đạo diễn xuất sắc, Nam diễn viên xuất sắc cho Joaquin Phoenix, Kịch bản chuyển thể hay nhất…
Tiếp theo đó là “The Irishman” của Martin Scorsese, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” của Quentin Tarantino và “1917” của Sam Mendes đồng hạng hai với 10 đề cử, kể cả hạng mục quan trọng nhất “Phim hay nhất”.
Nói thêm về “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, tài tử Brad Pitt vừa nhận giải Nam diễn viên phụ xuất sắc nhất tại Quả cầu vàng, nay tiếp tục được đề cử ở hạng mục tương tự tại Oscar. Trong khi đó, Leonardo DiCaprio bị Quả cầu vàng “ngó lơ”, nhưng lại được AMPAS chọn vào đề cử “Nam diễn viên chính xuất sắc”.
Đại diện đến từ châu Á - “Parasite” - Ký sinh trùng của đạo diễn Bong Joon-ho không phụ sự kỳ vọng khi mang về 6 đề cử ở các hạng mục: Phim hay nhất, Đạo diễn xuất sắc nhất, Kịch bản gốc xuất sắc nhất, Phim quốc tế xuất sắc nhất, Dựng phim xuất sắc nhất và Thiết kế sản xuất xuất sắc nhất.
Với kết quả trên, “Parasite” trở thành tác phẩm điện ảnh Hàn Quốc đầu tiên trong lịch sử vừa tranh giải ở cả hai hạng mục Phim hay nhất và Phim quốc tế xuất sắc nhất.
Trước đó, bộ phim hài kịch – kinh dị này đã ghi tên mình vào lịch sử Quả cầu vàng khi trở thành tác phẩm đầu tiên của xứ sở kim chi được vinh danh ở hạng mục “Phim nước ngoài xuất sắc”.
Không được may mắn như “Parasite”, một tác phẩm khác đến từ châu Á là “The Farewell” của nữ đạo diễn người Mỹ gốc Hoa Lulu Wang hoàn toàn “trắng tay” tại Oscar 2020. Ngay cả Awkwafina, ngôi sao gốc Á vừa làm lên lịch sử tại Quả cầu vàng mới đây khi thắng giải Nữ diễn viên chính xuất sắc - Phim điện ảnh hài / ca vũ nhạc, cũng bị AMPAS bỏ qua.
Tương tự, Taron Egerton, mới ẵm giải Nam diễn viên chính xuất sắc - Phim truyện hài / ca vũ nhạc tại Quả cầu vàng, cũng ngậm ngùi trượt đề cử Oscar năm nay.
Thêm một tiếc nuối khác là “Frozen 2” của “nhà chuột” Disney. Tác phẩm này vừa xác lập kỷ lục là phim hoạt hình ăn khách nhất mọi thời đại, nhưng lại không có đề cử ở hạng mục Phim hoạt hình xuất sắc của Oscar, thay vào đó chỉ có một suất ở hạng mục “Ca khúc chủ đề xuất sắc” dành cho “Into the Unknown”.
